INTEREST ON LOAN
Sir, —Please will you, or some of your correspondents, through these columns, comment on the truth and justice of the statements made recently that, of the £250,000 interest on the new loan, “a large proportion goes to the overseas shareholders.” etc., etc. Is not a great deal of this £250,000 absorbed in the conducting of the bank’s ordinary business—viz., wages, stationery, maintenance, etc., and are not the shareholders’ dividends paid from the net earnings, as in every other business?—Yours, etc., CURIOUS. June 14, 1954.
