WATER SUPPLY FOR DIAMOND HARBOUR.—A start has been made with the laying of a seabed pipeline to supply Diamond Harbour with water from Lyttelton. This photograph was taken at the western reclamation when the first sections of piping were lowered into the sea. A launch and dinghies towed the piping into position, and the first coupling was made by a diver. Lengths of pipes ready for lowering are seen on the stone retaining wall.
