British Miners Seek Wage Increase
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, July t. British miners have decided to Eress for more pay and shorter ours. They will seek more pay, not by a direct claim for increased wages, but by a revision of the wages structure. The National Union of Mine workers has decided to ask the National Coal Board to abolish bonus pavments and to replace them with increases of 20 per cent, on day wage rates and 16 per cent, on the piece rate. The claims would cost about £10,000,000 a year.
