HOT MEALS FOR OLD PEOPLE
METHODIST MISSION’S SERVICE
The Methodist Central Mission will resume its hot meal service for old people at the Durham Street South Methodist Church on July 26, when three-course dinners will be served at a nominal charge from Mondays to Fridays inclusive. A meeting of women volunteers from Methodist Women’s Guilds, who will carry out the service, was held yesterday when it was decided to arrange a roster of duties from the opening date until October.
A cook will be employed by the mission, but other work, such as preparing food and serving it, will be done by volunteer workers.
A the Durham Street South Methodist Church has been converted into a kitchen with a servery. An adjoining large room will be used as a dining-room. The mission would like elderly people to notify its office at the corner of Chancery lane in Cathedral square as soon as possible, if they require hot meals.
