OBITUARY
MR H. FROST (New Zealand Press Association) . AUCKLAND, July 6. Mr Harry Frost, the grand old man of New Zealand Rugby, died at Auckland today in his eighty-sixth year. Mr Frost was president of the New Zealand Rugby Union in 1924-25, and in 1939 was made a life member. He was algo the first honorary life president of the Auckland Rugby Union. Few men in the history of New Zealand Rugby made a greater contribution to the welfare of the game. His association with the sport began in 1886, when he joined the Christchurch Rugby Football Club. From 1890 to 1902 he played 38 games for Canterbury, and in 1896 he hooked for the All Blacks against Queensland at*Wellington.
In addition to captaining Canterbury on several occasions, also took a prominent part fir the administration of the Canterbury Rugby Union. He was made patron and a life member of his club, and was an excutive member of the Canterbury Rugby Union from 1892 to 1901 and a member of the Canterbury selection committee in 1900 and 1901.
In 1915 Mr Frost became a member of the executive committee of the Auckland Rugby Union, and in 1935 was elected president. For 15 years he was chairman of the management committee until his retirement in 1945. He was also a past president and secretary of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association and a life member of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club. Mr Frost retired from the insurance business in 1932.
