TO BE LAUNCHED BY THE QUEEN NEXT MONTH.—A drawing of the Southern Cross, the Shaw Savill 20,000-ton passenger liner to be launched by the Queen at Belfast, Northern Ireland, on August 17. Designed to carry more than 1000 tourist class passengers, the Southern Cross is expected to sail from Southampton on March 29, 1955, on her maiden voyage to Australia and New Zealand. Her commanding officer will be Sir David Aitchison, captain of the Gothic during the Royal tour.
