TEACHERS’ TOURNAMENT The teachers’ golf day was held at the Waitikiri Golf Club’s links yesterday. In the .morning the men played for the Pedagogic Bowl, which resulted in a tie between D. Wilson and R. Marks, with cards of 73. D. Wilson won on a countback. The women teachers, participating for the first time in this tournament, played for a women’s trophy, which was won by Miss E. I. B. Moore, with a score of 82. In the afternoon a Canadian foursome was played, the winners . being A. R. Blank and Miss J. Byers, who returned a score of 76. There was a good attendance of teachers from many South Island schools, including Ashburton and the West Coast. ’ Hole-in-One at Timaru C. J. Shea, a member of the Timaru Golf Club, holed-in-one at Port Arthur (185 yards) on Sunday. He used a No. 2 iron. A week ago I. W. Cunningham hcled-in-one at the Dive (135 yards). Both players were partnered by L. S. Abernethy. *
