HIGHER WAGES CLAIMED

LABOURERS ON COUNCIL WORK An increase in the basic rate of wages from £6 9s 8d to £7 a week is one of the claims made for labourers employed by the City Council Dy the Canterbury Builders’ and General Labourers’ Union. A special sub-com-mittee of the council will negotiate the new award.
