TERRORISM IN BALKANS
U.S. CORRESPONDENT’S STORY
(Rec. 8 p.m.) ATHENS. June 27. “The worst any tyrant ever did in the way of violence, personal humiliation. breaking up of meetings and the suppression of public opinion, is now being matched by the Communistdominated Governments of Bulgaria and Rumania as I personally saw it,” said Mr Reuben Markham, who for 20 years was Balkans correspondent of the “Christian Science Monitor.” and who was recently expelled from Bucharest. “The Bulgarian Courts are a travesty -of justice and people have been killed by the thousands. Executions are merely legal massacres.” Mr Markham attended a meeting of the Peasant Party in Bukovina, Rumania. which was broken up by a band of ruffians wearing masks who killed the political leader with a burst of machine-gun fire. Mr Markham related other terrorist exploits.
