NEW WAR MEDAL
MOBILISED SERVICE REQUIRED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 28. “From inquiries already received, the announcement .in the newspapers on June 27 of the institution of the new war medal seems to have been misinterpreted in some quarters, particularly in so far as the Home Guard is concerned.” said the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) to-day. “As the text of the published statement clearly sets out, the medal is to be awarded only to those who fulfilled the requisite condition of not less than 28 days’ full-time service, which means mobilised service, and not merely the normal service that was performed by the majority of Home Guardsmen.”
