FAMINE EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN
BETTER RESPONSE THIS WEEK Reports from the rural districts show that farmers are supporting the campaign, said the secretary of the Christchurch Famine Emergency Committee, Mr E. A. Chivers, yesterday. “More wheat and peas are being sown this season, and one farmer intends to save his best calves for slaughtering,” Mr Chivers added. At the depot in the Square the famine poster was covered with coupons in rather less than three days, 5822 of the coupons being meat coupons, and 81 of them being butter coupons. All i these coupons have been cancelled and i a new poster will be ready on Moni day for the Mme object. | On Thursday, July 4, members of the Christchurch Famine Relief Committee will address a meeting at Lyttelton of all those interested in famine relief, at 2.30 p.m., in the Red Cross sub-centre rooms.
