JUDGE OF LAND SALES COURT
APPOINTMENT OF MR K. G. ARCHER
(From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, June 28. The appointment of Mr K. G. Archer, of Christchurch, as Judge of the Land Sales Court, in place of Mr Justice Finlay, whose time will be fully occupied in future with Supreme Court work, was announced to-day by the Minister of Lands (the Hon. C. F. Skinner).
Mr Archer has been chairman of the Christchurch Urban Land Sales Com-
mittee since the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act came into operation at the end of 1943. He has practised in Christchurch as a barrister and solicitor for many years. The Minister paid a tribute to the work of Mr Justice Finlay as Judge of the Court. He said that the judgments of the Court, under his presidency, had given general satisfaction. Pressure of other work had necessitated his resignation.
