HOCKEY
TOUR BY INDIAN ARMY TEAM
VISIT MAY BE MADE NEXT YEAR
The possibility of a tour of New Zealand next season by an Indian Army team was indicated at a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association recently. A letter was received from General Headquarters of the Indian Army advising that it was willing to accept the invitation to tour New Zealand in 1947, provided that the financial terms offered were improved. A special committee comprising Messrs H. S. J Goodman, C. C. Holland, and P. N. Quartermain was set up to reconsider the financial terms and to report to the next meeting. The mter-island representative match will be played at Blenheim this year, on August 31. The following selectors were appointed—North Island: Messrs W. New(Auckland), and K. A. Falconer (Wellington). South Island: Messrs H Throp (Canterbury) and E. J. Rennick (Otago). A letter was received from the International Hockey Federation asking for an opinion of the new experimental penalty corner rule. It was decided to advise that New Zealand favoured the new rule which had met with the.general approval of both players and umpires. Messrs T. H.
