OUTPUT OF CEMENT
PRODUCTION HAMPERED BY COAL SHORTAGE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 26. The output of cement showed an increase in the last year, but was well below the capacity of the plant, said the chairman of Wilson’s (New Zealand) Portland Cement Company (Mr G. Winstone) at the annual meeting to-day. Shortage of coal was the chief obstacle, he said, and supplies were many thousands of tons below requirements throughout the year. Urgent representations had again been made- recently, not only -by the company, but by many users of cement, and it was hoped that a higher priority and a larger coal allocation would be made for the cement industry.
