The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m., by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a depression centred over the central Tasman sea is moving slowly eastwards. Forecast to 5 p.m.: light to moderate winds, north-easter-lies predominating. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with scattered rain and areas of fog. Temperatures moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate north-easterly winds. Weather unsettled, with occasional periods of rain. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was - overcast, with a moderate easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 52.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy with a moderate northeast breeze. The barometer was steady at 29.70 in (1005.8 millibars).
