AFFILIATION WITHDRAWN

DECISION OF WELLINGTON ATHLETIC CENTRE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 25. The Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association decided last evening to withdraw from affiliation with the Council of Sport. This action was taken on the direction of the New Zealand Association.

The chairman (Mr R. Spence) said it was with regret and under protest that the centre took this step. The New Zealand Association had twice previously directed the centre to comply with its interpretation of the rules that centres had no power to affiliate with the council.

After the motion of withdrawal had been carried, Mr Spence gave notice of motion- for the next annual meeting of the New Zealand Association for the purpose of rescinding the non-af-flliation motion carried in 1944. and making the New Zealand Association a member of the Council of Sport.
