EROSION AT GORE BAY
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW ROAD SOUGHT
. Representations are to be made to the Public Works Department for the construction of repair works to combat erosion on the sea front at Gore Bay. Members of the Gore Bay Improvement Association this week made an inspection of the area, and the association intends asking if the old road along the waterfront, washed away some years ago by erosion, can be restored. At present the road swings in to make use of a right-of-way running through some of the camp sections in the bay. The visit of inspection was attended by Messrs w. H. Gillespie, M.P., and A. Buckingham, and special attention was paid to the possible future development of the beach as a resort for visitors to the Cheviot Homestead motor camp. The beach, it is stated, has grown considerably in popularity in recent years, and last year more than 60 parties were camped there.
