DESERT MOTOR LINE-ESTABLISHED BY NEW ZEALANDERS TO CLOSE DOWN.—The Nairn Transport Company, which has conducted a motor transport service across the Syrian Desert from Damascus to Bagdad since shortly after the 1914-18 War, is to close down, according to a cable message from Damascus. The company was formed by two New Zealanders, Messrs G. and N. Nairn, and operated a number of motor-coaches, one of which is shown in this photograph. It is probable that Iraq will set up a Government-owned corporation to take over the service.
