Doubling-up of Taxi Fares.—A dedecision to issue licences allowing taxi operators to double-up fares in the early hours of the morning was reached by the Auckland Metropolitan Licensing Authority yesterday. Legal opinion obtained by the authority stated that the Minister was unwilling to allow this by regulation, but the Licensing Authority could issue licences to owners for services at separate fares during these hours.—(P.A.)
