TAIERI AIRPORT
USE AS AIR FORCE STATION
"The Press” Special Service
DUNEDIN, May 24. Although Taieri airport is to be retained as a station of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, no decision has yet been made as to its exact future use. This was stated to-day in an interview by the Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones), who said that when the future defence policy had been decided on Taieri would take its place in the Air Force scheme. “The Taieri station may be used by the regular Air Force, or may be devoted principally to the work of the Territorial Air Force or the Air Training Corps,” Mr Jones said. "At the moment it is impossible to say, but in the meantime we have considered it necessary to retain the buildings for the Air Force until we know what our future requirements will be.”
