FLOODS IN NORTH AUCKLAND
HEAVY RAIN FOR THREE DAYS
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 24. The worst floods in north Auckland for many years have followed three days of continuous heavy rain and blustering winds. Large slips came down on the State highway from Auckland to Whangarei late this afternoon, blocking the main routes. The only road remaining open to the north late to-night was that on the east coast from the Dome Valley through the MangaW&. gorge to Waipu. Emergency gangs will work throughout the night to clear the roads, but it is not possible to say when they will be open again. The whole of. the north has been inundated by heavy rains. From Friday until this morning 9.45 inches fell in Kaikohe and heavy showers were continuing to-night.
