LANCASTER PARK DISPUTE
BOARD’S REPLY TO LEAGUE PRESIDENT
The following statement was made yesterday by Mr J. O. McGillivray secretary to the Lancaster Park Board of Control, in reply to Mr J. A. Redwood, president of the New Zealand Rugby League: “As one point raised by Mr Redwood comes within the jurisdiction of the Lancaster Park Board I wish to point out that the statement attributed to him that, after refusing the League, the Canterbury Rugby Union granted' the use of Lancaster Park to the Football Association on the day applied for by the League Board of Control,' is quite incorrect so far as it relates to the Football Association’s application The Rugby Union did not grant the Association the use of the park; the Union has no jurisdiction in the matter, it being entirely a question for the Lancaster Park Board of Control. Such a statement is likely to mislead unless corrected.”
