SALE OF BUILDING
The sale of the Glasgow Buildings, a four-storey building at 697-699 Colombo street, from Mary Ann and John Alexander Redpath to the Bruce Woollen Manufacturing Company, at the vendors’ price of £45,000, was approved by the Urban Land Sales Committee yesterday. Decision had been reserved at the original hearing. The Crown valuation was £34,085, made up of £19,290 for the land and £ 14,795 for the buildings. For the vendors Mr C. E. Hoy valued the land at £26,250 and Mr R. C. Jamieson valued the building at £24,715. For the vendors, Mr F. P. Hill stated that the building, which was heavily constructed, had been built in 1926. It was designed to carry tw*o more storeys, was within the six-storey area, and was modern in every way. The District Crown Valuer (Mr W. Mason) valued the land at £460 a foot. The Crown valuation allowed an increase of £2795 on the building from the Government roll valuation in 1937, but there was no difference in the valuation of the land.
