ILLICIT DRUG TRAFFIC
TRADING IN JAPAN (Rec. 9.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 23. The occupation forces in Japan and Korea have cut off 90 per cent, of the world’s pre-war illicit drug trade st its source, according to information given the War Department by General MacArthur’s Director of Public Health and Welfare, Colonel Crawford Sams. There is now no illegal narcotics traffic in Japsn. The Americans destroyed heroin valued at more than 1.000,000 dollars, other drugs have been seized, and poppy-growing has been eliminated as a major agricultural occupation.
