The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m., by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: there is an anti-cyclone south-east of the South Island, and an extensive depression over the Tasman Sea and the North Island. The forecast is for moderate north-easterly winds predominating and freshening at times on the coast. Weather cloudy and cold, with some scattered drizzle or rain, mainly on the coast. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to strong north-easterly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with some scattered drizzle or rain, mainly north of Westport. Temperatures cool.
