CANTERBURY PLAYS OTAGO The annual chess match by telegraph between teams representing Canterbury and Otago was concluded on Saturday evening, when nine of the 20 games were finished, resulting in Otago scoring five points and Canterbury four. The 11 unfinished games will be considered by the captains, Messrs L. J. Darwin (Canterbury) and R. McDermid (Otago), and it is likely that decisions will be reached In several of them. Those on which the captains cannot agree will be referred to the Auckland judges. Results of the games concluded (Canterbury names first) were as follows: L. J Darwin beat J F. Lang; W) M. Stewart beat D. Langley; L. J. Mitchell drew with A. J. McDermott; W. E. Moore lost to R. McDermid; E. Dalton drew with R. Lungley; N. Friberg lost to G. Barnett; F. Newsome drew with A. E. Ward; G. G Parkins drew with C. Ahern; E. Badian lost to J. J. Marlow.
