ACCOMMODATION FOR TOURISTS
PLANS FOR FIRSTCLASS HOTELS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 22. “First-class hotels will be built in New Zealand, but not in the immediate future,” the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) said last night when discussing the expansion of internal travel.
Mr Parry said that housing must have priority at the present time, but the Government and private enterprise would renovate some of the better hotels where renovation was needed, and later up-to-date hotels would be elected io give New Zealand and overseas fourists-'.'ttie comfort and facilities they looked Tor.
The Minister said he was convinced that internal travel would be maintained, and that in addition as soon as the transport facilities were available there would be an influx of overseas visitors.
