DEPUTATION TO MAYOR
Concern lest the reputation of. the city for hospitality should be jeopardised was expressed by the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews) when a deputation from the Canterbury Rugby League waited on him yesterday afternoon and asked him to intercede on their behalf with the Canterbury Rugby Union. Mr Andrews said he would take time to consider in what way he could best help. Members of the deputation emphasised that the members of the visiting team were former servicemen, and esked 'Christchurch people to remember the splendid hospitality given by the people of Britain to our own servicemen during the war.
