EIRE’S SYMPATHY WITH BRITAIN
DUBLIN, June 19. “Our Government considers it nothing short of wonderful that the British people are behaving as they are in stinting themselves in order to send food where it is most needed in Europe,” said Mr de Valera in the Dail. He was moving a vote of £3,000,000 for the relief of European distress —the second such vote since last year. Mr de Valera added: “As far as we are concerned, we are anxious to do everything possible to help, but while we are doing our very best there is nothing much more we can do to improve the situation.” Mr John Dillon, in urging more food for Britain, said that many Britons were suffering a degree of exhaustion because of food shortages. Britain’s sa rifices should excite admiration for a very valiant people.
