JEWS RESIST SEARCH OF VILLAGE
Two Jews were fatally Injured when they resisted a military search in the Upper Galilee village of Karfgiladi. 'The search lasted from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many Jews from the surrounding districts tried to enter the village to help the villagers, but the military arrested them. Police and soldiers searching the village of Hanita, north-west of Palestine, confiscated signalling apparatus. The settlers at first refused to open the gates of the village and tried to block the entrance with beehives. it is feared that a British nursing filter who is overdue from local leave has beery kidnapped in Tel Aviv. A large force of troops and police early this morning began to search the northern Palestine Jewish settle-
ments near the. Lebanese frontier. All roads in the district are blocked and telephone communications between the settlements have been suspended. No explanation has so far been given for the search. “There are 12 cases of Jewesses burned on the face by acid at present in hospital,” says the Jerusalem cor» respondent of the Exchange Telegraph Agency.' “Many Jewish girls have received anonymous warnings that they will be disfigured by having their hair cut off or vitriol thrown in their faces if they associate With British troops.” British military officials have detained two British officers in connexion with the death of a Jew who was walking in the street with his sister and brother-in-law last night The Jew died in hospital.
