The appointment has been made of Mr W. O. Harvey as chief private secretary and clerk of the Executive Council as from April 1. Mr Harvey was born in Wellington in 1908, and was educated at Wellington College and Victoria University College, where he graduated LL.B, in 1940. He was on the staff of the Public Trust Office from 1925 to 1936, when he transferred to the Prime Minister’s department as private secretary to Mr Savage.—(P.A.)
Mr IT. C. Kent, who hfes been appointed sales manager of the Ford Motor Company of New Zealand, Ltd., was born in Christchurch, and was well known throughout the Dominion as manager- of the Alliance Finance Corporation (N.Z.), Ltd., until he left for Australia in 1940.
Mr C. D. W. L. Sheppard, who has recently retired from the chairmanship of the St. Albans school committee after msny years’ service, and Mrs Sheppard were guests of the staff of the school at afternoon tea recently. Reference was made to the work that each had done in the interests of the school.
A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Colonel G. J. Smith, patron of the club for 51 years, was passed at the-annual meeting of the Sydeqham Football Club trustees.
The principal of the Palmerston North Technical School, Mr H. M. Scott, was appointed to the position of principal of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland, at a meeting of the college’s board of governors. He is to succeed Mr G. J. Park, principal since 1922, who is retiring shortly.—(P. A.) Mr W. A. Kenny, who has been chief inspector of the Union Bank of Australia, Ltd., since 1941, has been appointed assistant general manager. Mr Kenny is at present acting as general manager during the absence abroad of Mr A. E. B. Goods.—(P.A.)
