An anticyclone extends from the south of Tasmania over the South Island. Forecast to 5 pjn.: moderate to fresh north-westerly winds, decreasing and later tending north-easterly. Weather fair, apart from a shower or two about Banks Peninsula. Temperatures cold. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate south-easterly to easterly winds. Weather fine but cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was fine and sunny yesterday. with a moderate south-east breeze. The maximum temperature was 50 8 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast with a very light westerly wind. The barometer, rising, registered 30.30 inches (1026.1 millibars).
