NEW ZEALAND LABOUR GOVERNMENT
MR NASH’S MESSAGE TO CONFERENCE .
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 20. “The New Zealand Labour Government has been an inspiration to all English-speaking and European peoples," said the Deputy-Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. W. Nash) in a cable message yesterday to the Labour Party conference. Its continuity, he said, would help bring the fuller freedoms for which Labour stood, and for which men had fought for years. “Labour is now in power in three Commonwealth countries, and this gives us the greatest possibility in our history of advancing toward out objective. If we combine greater productivity with fair distribution of products we can ensure that all who work, and their dependants, will receive everything that can be produced to help them experience the' joy and happiness of creative life. If we can do this we can also make a great contribution towards meeting the present desperate food crisis, and can later do our share towards lifting the living standards of the peoples of all countries. This is a practical way of helping to get world peace. We have our greatest chance if we rise to take It." Mr Nash said that the Labour Government in Britain was in great form, with the enthusiastic support of the mass of the people. The British Government was anxious to co-operate with New Zealand in pressing towards a common objective, he stated.
