AIRWAYS PUBLICITY OFFICER

VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH Mrs E. Y. Walker, who is public relations officer for the British Overseas Airways Corporation, arrived in Christchurch by air from the North Island yesterday afternoon. The corporation she represents will soon operate a faster service between Great Britain and New Zealand, in co-operation With Qantas Empire Airways and Tasman Empire Airways, and Mrs Walker has acted as liaison officer between the three organisations. Before the war, Mrs Walker was a reporter for the “Daily Mail,” London, and when war broke out she joined thfe Women’s Royal Naval Service and served in Great Britain, Australia, and New Guinea. Mrs Walker will return to Auckland to-day and to-morrow she will leave by air for Sydney. From Sydney, Mrs Walker will go to the Far East and survey the proposed route of the “Dragon” service of the corporation she represents, which will operate from London to Tokyo. After visiting China and Japan, she will return to Great Britain, travelling through India.
