REDUCTION ANNOUNCED SHORTAGE OF COAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June to Because of depleted stocks of the Railway Department has had reduce the number of trains running in the North Island. Stocks are a Umi? better in the South Island, althounJ they are not good, and no curtail time-tables is being taker i the meantime. The position in\S South Island is being watched fully. The Minister of Railways (the Hon R. Auckland-Wellington express an unday. Limited expresses will nni run after Friday. The Wellington-Gisborne and N a pier-Wellington and connecting mJ* senger trains between Wellington Woodville will run on Mondays and Fridays, the Gisborne-Wellington ex press on Tuesdays and Saturdays and the Wellington-New Plymouth and New Plymouth-Wellington on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Expresses between Auckland and Onua and Auckland and Rotorup will run « Mondays and Fridays, and those be. tween Auckland and Taneatua on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The 7*50 p.m. express from New Plymouth tj;/ Auckland will leave on Sunday and Thursday, and the 7.8 p.m. express from New Plymouth to Auckland on Monday and Friday. Reservations up to and Including June 22 for the Main Trunk, and up to June 24 for other expresses mentioned, will not be disturbed. All later re. servations are cancelled, and passeng. ers must rebook. The lists reopen it 8.30 am. on Friday. Some secondary services will also be eliminated. As from Friday road. mot& services will be augmented.
