SENIOR OFFICERS OF U.S. FORCES
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN PACIFIC (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 19. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral announces that His Majesty has been pleased to approve the following awards to senior officers of the United States forces in recognition of distinguished service in the south Pacific:— Honorary Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath Major-General Robert G. Breene, U.S. Army, who commanded the United States service of supply in New Zealand to 1943, when he was appointed commander, air, in the Solomons. Brigadier-General Field Harris, U.S. Marine Corps. Brigadier Lewis E. Woods, U.S. Marine Corps. Brigadier-General Francis P. Mulcahy, U.S. Marine Corps, who commanded air personnel in New Zealand before he became commander; air, New Georgia. Brigadier-General Dean C. Strother, U.S. Army Air Corps, who generally supervised the New Zealand fighter squadrons in the Pacific. Captain Charles F. Coe. U.S. Navy. Captain Edwin R. Wilkinson, U.S. Navy, who commanded the naval base at Vella Lavella during the greater part of the time the island was occupied by New Zealand troops. Colonel George J. Schulz. U.S. Army, who was senior anti-aircraft tartillery officer of the mixed United States and New Zealand force in Treasury Island. Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Lieutenant-Colonel Marc Connelly, U.S. Army, who displayed marked ability in handling shipping problems peculiar to the movements of New Zealand forces. Lieutenant-Colonel Jere N. Moore, U.S. Army, who commanded an anti-aircraft unit when United States and New Zealand troops captured Green Island. Lieutenant-Colonel Woodrow Horn, U.S. Army. Commander Robert Easterley, U.S. Navy. Commander James McD. Smith, U.S. Navy, who commanded the reconnaissance party attached to the New Zealand commando force which raided Green Island on January 31, 1944. Commander Clifton A. Whyte, U.S. Navy, who commanded the naval construction regiment which landed on Green Island with the 3rd New Zealand Division. Honorary Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Lieutenant Charles E. Turnbull, U.SNavy.
