DEBATING CLUBS ELECT OFFICERS
The president’s report presented to the annual meeting of Christchurch Federated Debating Clubs showed that there had been considerable increase and interest in debating activities during the last year, and 12 clubs had affiliated. A high standard had been maintained in all sections of the annua] debating competitions. Officers elected for the ensuing year were:—patron, Mr L. Warburton; director Staff Sergeant W. J. Jessett; president, Mr G. D. Hattaway (reelected); vice-president. Miss B. Walker; secretary. Miss M. Cosgriff; executive, Messrs S. Newell and T. J. Packer. Misses Henderson and C. McAleer; publicity officer. Miss D. Chapman.
