BRITISH SOAP RATION CUT

(Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, June 18. The British soap ration will be cut by one-seventh as from Monday, and the allowance of house- % hold soap in future will be six 3oz tablets every two months instead of seven. This was announced to-night by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Food (Dr. Edith Summerskill). Dr. Summerskill said that the cut was necessary because there had been a falling off in supplies of fat and materials used for making soap. “We cannot wash with materials which make valuable food,” she added.
