NEW DRUG FOR HAY FEVER
ENCOURAGING RESULTS NEW YORK, June 7. Developmenb of a new drug called anthallan, which promises relief to hay fever sufferers after three weekff treatment, is announced in the bulletin of the New York Academy of Medicine. Anthallan,. which is taken in pill form at the rate of six a day, is said to attack the cau£e of the fever rather than the symptoms, and has already produced good results. . During experiments, 37 per cent, or patients showed complete recovery. The rest benefited in varying degrees-. It is not yet known how long patients will remain immune to hay fever, but doctors reported that some patients treated two years ago had suffered no recurrence. Anthallan may be used only under ca £e of a physician. . The new drug, which was developeo after 25 years’ experimentation by ur W. S. Loewe, a German refugee present teaching at Utah University* already is in production, and is pected to be available for general d»* tributlon shortly.
