EXHIBITION OF WOOLLEN MATERIALS
MODELS TO BE SHIPPED TO N.Z. (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, June 18. A fashion show in miniature is to be shipped to New Zealand. It consists of 12 models about a foot high dressed with the lates’t materials made entirely of wool. The models are in two cases, one showing women’s outdoor wear, and the other the latest evening gowns.
The chairman of the New Zealand Wool Board (Mr N. R. Jameson) in a speech at a reception given at New Zealand House before the’ exhibition is shipped to New Zealand next month, said it would be displayed from one end of the Dominion to the other—in all the main Centres and also the smallest provincial towns. It was being sent at the suggestion of the International Wool Secretariat and would demonstrate the great development made in the wool world during the war.
The most interesting of fabrics is one of the latest light-weight woollen materials. It is mist blue crepe which weighs only Igoz a yard. Tailored as an afternoon dress, it has a swathed waistline and a knife pleated skirt. A jacket of hand block printed wool is another feature.
Those present at the reception included the New Zealand High Commissioner (Mr W, J. Jordan), who emphasised that the majority of woollen materials made in Britain were manufactured from Dominion wools. Mr F. S. Arthur, who was recently appointed general manager of United Kingdom-Dominion Wool Disposals, Ltd., was also present.
