SOUTH AFRICAN PARTY LEADER (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec- 7 p.m.) CAPE TOWN. June 17. A Select Committee has cleared the leader of the South African Nationalist Party (Dr D F Malan) of allegations that he was in touch with Nazi agents during the war. The committee found that he had not talked to any persons or mentioned documents found in the German Foreign Office except for Mrs Denk. with whom he had an interview in Cane Town about Januarv 16. 1940 Dr. Malan had not reoorted this interview to the authorities mainly because it made no imnression on him. There was no connexion between the interview and the motion of which General Hertzog gave notice in the Assembly on January 19. 1940. asking for the termination of the war against Germany.
