STOCK SALES LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, June 18. At the Lomeviile stock sale to-day, the yarding of fat sheep was the largest for 1 some time. Better quality wethers were Is easier, and better quality ewes 2s easier, but light-weight wethers and freezing ewes were unchanged. .Prime quality heavy-weight wethers 46s to 495, medium-weights 42s 6d to 44s 6d, lightweights 38s to 41s, unfinished 32s to 34s 6d; good quality maiden ewes, 33s to 375; good butchers’ ewes, 26s to 295, fair quality 24s to 25s 6d; freezing ewes, 17s to 245, according to weight and quality. There was an increase in the number of fat lambs yarded, but the quality was poor. Competition was keen, and prices were in keeping with, if not above, expert schedule rates. There was a large yarding of fat cattle, the majority being good quality medium and handy-weights of ajl classes. Good quality cows were a little firmer, and better quality bullocks and heifers a little easier. Light-weights and' unfinished were easier by about £l. Heavy-weight bullocks made £l9 10s to £2l 12s 6d, good quality medium-weights £l7 to £lB 10s, light-weights £l3 10s to £l5, small and unfinished £ll to £l2 10s; good''quality heifers to £l4 17s 6d, handy-weights £l2 to £l3 10s, light-weights £lO 10s to £ll 10s, small £8 to £9 10s; good quality coWs, £l2 to £l3 10s, medium £lO 15s to £ll 10s, average £9 to £lO, 4ged and unfinished £7 to £8 10s. ASHBURTON Very little change in values compared with current prices was recorded at the Ashburton stock sale yesterday. The yarding of fat sheep was fair, but stores were not in great supply, and the attendance of buyers was small. The price range for butchers’ ewes was:—light, up to 17s 6d; medium, 18s to 20s 6d; prime, 21s to 26s Id. Two-tooth ewes made up to 40s. Lambs were again in short supply, selling from 32s to 34s 7d. Fat wethers reached the 50s mark, bringing from 32s lOd for lighter quality to 50s Id. In the store pens, ewes sold from 20s to 275, ewe lambs from Iss 7d to 235, and wether lambs at 20s. One lot of two-tooth wethefrs made 32s 6a. A dairy cow fetched the good price of £l7 in the cattle section. Fat cows ranged from £4 2s 6d to £5 10s, and a fat heifer sold at £lO 17s 6d. WELLINGTON WOOL CHEQUE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 18. Wellington’s wool cheque for the season just ended was £2,317.000. Gross offerings aggregated 110,717 bales. Net weight was 40,769,0001 b. The average price a bale was £2O 18s Bd, and the average price per lb, 13.64 d. COMPANY NEWS R. and E. Tingey.—A half-yearly dividend of 3 per cent. on the preference shares of R. and E. Tingey, Ltd., will be paid on July 1, free of social and national security taxes.—(P.A.) MINING Kanieri-Arahura.—The two units of Gold Mines of New Zealand, Ltd., in the first half of June won a total of 728 ounces of gold. Kanieri ran 208 hours for a recovery of 471 ounces from 105,000 yards, and Arahura worked 215 hours for a recovery of 257 ounces from 133,000 yards.
