WAR CRIMES IN JUGOSLAVIA
FURTHER EVIDENCE AT TRIAL (N.Z. Press 'Association—Copyright) BELGRADE, June 17. Questioned about the murder of the British Army officer, Major Terence Atherton, who parachuted into Jugoslavia, General Mikhailovic said at his trial to-day that he was killed by one of his (Mikhailovic’s) lieutenants who turned up at headquarters with Major Atherton’s shoes and field glasses. The Court then proceeded to the case against Dr, Moljevic, president of General Mikhailovic’s central committee, who pleaded not guilty. He said ,he knew there was collaboration with the Germans, -against which he protested to General Mikhailovic, who. however, did nothing about it. General Mikhailovic, whose crossexamination has ended, was brought into Court with Moljevic, but he was removed on the motion of the public prosecutor, who said that this was not a normal case. The president of the tribunal, ruling for General Mikhailovic’s removal, said that it was the best method of arriving at the truth.
