NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR ROSKILL
DR. R. G. M’ELROY SELECTED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 18. - Only one nomination, that of Dr. R G. McElroy, barrister and solicitor, has been received as the National Party candidate for Roskill at the General Election. A member of the Auckland City Council, Dr. McElroy contested Roskill for the National Party in 1943, being defeated by Mr A. S. Richards, M.P., by 962 votes. TIMARU ELECTORATE z MR JACK ACLAND NOMINATED BY NATIONAL PARTY (P.A.) TIMARU, June 18. Mr Jack Acland, member of Parliament for the Temuka electorate, which disappeared with the introduction of the new electoral boundaries, said tonight that he had decided to allow himself to be nomfhated for selection by the National Party to contest the Timaru seat at the forthcoming General Election. The present member for Timaru is Mr Clyde Carr, who has held the seat for Labour for the last 18 years. FIVE NATIONAL NOMINEES FOR GISBORNE (P.A.) GISBORNE, June 18. Five candidates have Men nominated for the National Party’s ballot to determine the party candidate for the Gisborne seat at the General Election. They are Messrs H. H. Barker (Gisborne). W. R. Benton (Lower Hutt), N. H. Bull (Gisborne), H. Dudfield (Gisborne), and V. G. H. Richard (Ruatoria).
