BUILDING IN AUCKLAND DELAYED
SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 17. Supplies of materials for house construction are worse than at any time during the war, according to a statement issued this morning by the Auckland Master Builders’ Industrial Union of Employers. Construction is continuously delayed because of delays and shortages in the supply of timber, cement, hardware fittings, and batns, but timber is causing the greatest concern, according to the statement The present official quota covering all requirements for Auckland 2,000,000 ft monthly, which is less than half that «sed in 1939 by the builders alone. Orders for timber submitted months ago are not yet delivered, there is no .priority on behalf of former servicemen.
