DIVORCE
Sir, —Hail again, “ ’Appy ’Arry.” Many Eves of to-day are poor homemakers Compared with our mothers of yesterday. They are expert criticising the work of men, while doing little themselves. Where are those spacious, fragrant kitchens—those shelves of jams and preserves, those pairs of neatly mended socks? Probably the war and the Government have devoured them. Scapegoats have voracious appetites. The modern Eve enjoys long days of pleasure. She rushes home to a meal of cold meat or a lone boiled egg. Even after Adam has washed up; the socks are still neglected. Perhaps the wrong type of clubs are trumps. And the men? Whab- do we lack to-day? Chivalry? No, even though it is ruthlessly exploited. . Tact? Morar courage? Not both, because I will not sign my name.—Yours, etc., BACHELOR. June 17, 1946.
