LIME SILO TO BE ERECTED

STORAGE FOR 500 TONS AT WINSLOW From Our Own Reporter TEMUKA, June 15. Tbe early erection of a lime silo at Wmslow, Ashburton County, capable of holding 500 tons of lime, was mentioned m correspondence read by the secretary (Mr G. H. Mulligan) at a meeting of Temuka Federated Farmers last evening. The silo would be a central distribution point for lime, and would do much to overcome the difficulties caused by shortage of railway trucks and difficulties connected with the fitting in of road deliveries and spreading, said the information before the meeting. Tlie information also stated that® the bulk cartage of lime was used extensively in the United States. Twentyfour million tons of lime were distributed each year, arid 95 per cent, of this was in bulk. The delivery of lime in the Temuka area was discussed at length, and the following remit was carried: “That the cartage by rail of lime and fertilisers within a 10-mile radius of the works be discontinued and a subsidy be paid for the road carriage of such lime.”
