EMIGRANTS BY AIR

TRIP BY CONVERTED BOMBER SYDNEY, June 18. Twenty-two days out from Bournemouth, England, Australia’s first flying migrants arrived in Sydney on Saturday afternoon in the converted Halifax bomber “Waltzing Matilda,” which was bought from the Royal Air Force by the pilot and owner, Captain Geoffrey Wilkner. His wife and two children were among the 19 passengers. Sixteen passengers paid £250 a head to fly in the bomber, which was a veteran of 51 missions over enemy territory. The copilot, who flew the aeroplane for a third of the trip, was Miss Audrey Morgan, who said it was the first time she had flown anything with more than one engine. She flew fighters for the Air Transport Auxiliary.
