COMMUNISTS AND FOOD

ALLEGATIONS BY MR HOOVER

“UNIVERSAL LINE IN EVERY COUNTRY ”

(Rec. 10 p.m.) RIO DE JANIERO, June 15. Mr Herbert Hoover (who made a world food survey for Mr Truman) told a press conference that a universal line of Communuists in every country was trying to break down the provision of food for hungry people, thus producing chaos, “where Communists fish in troubled waters.” “In all the 38 countries I have already visited the Communist press has attacked the effort to provide food for the hungry working people, alleging that the food will be used for political purposes. “Among these people are millions of Communists who have received their full share and whose lives have been saved by our action.”
