A New Zealander, Mr C. H. Hassall, at the University of Cambridge, has been awarded an 1851 Exhibition Senior Studentship. The award is for research in organic chemistry.—London, June 15.

The visit to Rotorua and Tauranga by Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park and Lady Park has been cancelled. Lady Park is suffering from pleurisy —(P.A.) Captain Sydney Holm, of Wellington, has been appointed New Zealand director of the Southern Cross Assurance Company, Ltd., to fill the vacancy caused by the death of the Hon. Vincent Ward, M.L.C., M.B.E. Mr Henry P. Bridge, of Christchurch, has been local director for the South Island. Canon Henry Fraser, of Liverpool, yesterday took over the parish of Sumner for about nine months to relieve the Rev. W. C. Wisdom, who intends visiting his relatives in Eire For the last 14 years Canon Fraser has been vicar of Maghull, on the outer boundary of Liverpool. He came to New Zealand to visit relatives at Rangiora, and expects to spend abput three years in the country. Canon Fraser has received invitations to work with the Bishops of Nelson and Wellington.
